Regarding: NY State PSC¿s Review of the Comcast/Time Warner/Charter Cable Transactions As Chair of the Peterborough NH Board of Selectmen, I have had the opportunity to work directly with Comcast on initiatives important to our local residents. As you review the proposed merger of Comcast and Time Warner Cable on behalf of the people of New York, I thought it might be helpful to share our experiences. Following the close of Comcast¿s joint venture with NBCUniversal, the company pledged to make Peterborough one of just five pilot sites for an innovative new take on public, educational and government (PEG) programming known as Project Open Voice. The result was Local Look Peterborough, an online destination for over 40 ¿channels¿ of locally developed and produced content covering the arts, culture, education, government and recreation, among other topics. Comcast has provided the facilities and equipment necessary for local residents and businesses to find ways to get their content in front of their neighbors ¿ not to the mention the world. The project has truly revolutionized the notion of public access programming, and the people of Peterborough are proud to have been early adopters. Comcast kept the promise it made to our town three years ago to bring local access cable content into the YouTube age. I can say with confidence that the company can be counted on to honor its commitments to invest in New York¿s broadband networks and bring world-class technology to the new homes it means to serve.
