Con Edison is again seeking to increase utility rates, specifically electric rates, that it currently charges its customers. This country has been in a major recession since 2008. Thousands of people have lost their jobs since then, and few have been able to secure another living-wage job. Raises in most corporations have been flat in the past 5 years. While many people have exhausted their unemployment benefits and have little chance of being re-employed, government safety nets such as Medicaid and WIC, have seen their funds cut. New York City has been hard hit by these and other disasters, all of which have brought many of this City's residents to their knees. We cannot sustain these continued increases. It is the duty of the Public Service Commission to step up and keep utility increases to a minimum. Con Edison has been raking in huge profits year after year, while our citizens are having difficulty each day just keeping a roof over their heads and putting food on the table. Please do not authorize yet another increase in our electric rate. Thank you, Diane Connors
